Family friends and relatives arrive as the sun goes down. Happy people laughing and eating and drinking and playing mahjong. Tables of mahjong clatter through Scarlett’s bungalow. It was the usual weekend gathering of five generations in the clan. She belonged to a large family.

Scarlett escapes to her room upstairs. She was informed to do so. Kent said to wait for his call.

The moment the phone rang, Scarlett pounces onto it before anyone else could reach it. (It was the pre-mobile phone ages; the dawn of the dial-in internet.)

It was Kent. He asked her for the scene in her home. She tells him. She asks about his home scene – he was in his living room with his parents watching TV just a few steps away from him. He then proceeds to give out instructions to Scarlett.

“I want you to lay down on the floor. Will you do that?” his hushed deep low voice loomed over the phone.

“Yes.” Scarlett unwinds the telephone cable to stretch it out into her room, places the phone on the floor, closes her bedroom door and locks it. She lays herself onto the floor as instructed by Kent.

Kent’s breathing became audible to Scarlett. She could hear his lips getting closer to the telephone mouth piece.
